ABOUT THE ARTIST
Yelena
Piatigorsky
Yelena Piatigorsky grew up in Moscow and spent many afternoons as a girl at the Pushkin State Museum. Upon immigrating to the USA in 1981, she began exploring her new surroundings through different artistic mediums, combining her classical training with a whimsical, luminous aesthetic. Piatigorsky currently resides in New Jersey where, after receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, she became an active teacher in both art schools and from her own studio. Her artwork can be seen in galleries and private collections across North America and Europe.
“Through fantasy, through symbolism, through the use of the irrational, Yelena cuts through the encrustations of the intellect and takes us directly to the heart of things.”
— Sylvia Purcupile, Manhattan ArtsCREATE WITH YELENA
